Warmth and Water

We're having some warm weather at last. Chloe has really been enjoying paddling. We are lucky to have a great, free, outdoor pool in our town. It's at Cataract Gorge and is next to a river surrounded by parkland and bushland. A lovely place to spend some time with the little one.
That is me pre-haircut. Thankfully it's much better now.

This is what we do on car free days. The pool is just a bit too far to walk to so we get the paddling pool out on the deck. And don't worry, we reuse all the water for our plants in the evening.

This is a belt I made for a friend. I'm really happy with how it turned out and luckily she likes it too. The fabric is from the American Jane Wee Play range and is one of my favourites.

I've been beavering away at the sewing machine with a bunch of orders today. It was very satisfying to get a big chunk of work done as I've been feeling pretty lethargic lately.

Little Jenny Wren

Little Jenny Wren is an Etsy seller who makes stunningly beautiful dolls. She was featured in the same Babyology Storque article as Black Eyed Susie and I recently discovered she lives in the same city as us. I think it's just great that two Launceston sellers were featured and I'm really very tempted to comission a doll for Chloe's birthday or Christmas. The dolls are eco-friendly which makes them even more tempting. The only difficulty would be deciding on the details as you'll see if you have a look here. Jenny also has a blog here.

Kitchen fun

For anyone in need of some inspiration go take a look at this. Fortytworoads, on Etsy, sell a tutorial for making a great play kitchen using cardboard. It looks so cool and lends itself to a bit of fun for the maker- imagine the pretty curtains you could choose, or colour schemes. A cute matching apron could be made too.

Time is a bit short here at the moment so we went to the toy library and hired a plastic toy kitchen. I still plan to make the cardboard one sometime.

Fortytworoads also has a blog and there are sometime photos of finished kitchens there.

Todays works of Art

Chloe has been producing artworks by the dozen today. The picture above shows one. She has a magnetic doodle board thingie that she draws on and she's been using her blackboard too. Unfortunately, the works she produced while I was in the shower were on the sofa. So I had to spend my time cleaning up and not producing any of my own artworks!

This is a little taster of another work in progress. More information in a couple of weeks.

Playdough and Fabric Cheer

Today was a drab and dreary day weatherwise. Dull and uninspiring. Chloe and I made the most of it with puddle splashing, paper sticking, drawing and play dough mauling. See how intent she is on making her little creations.

And I hope you like the elephant I made. I was quietly flattered that Chloe could recognise most of my creations!

Just as we were about to go for a walk the rain set in, but then the postman came and everything was great! I can't wait to have some time to look at these properly and start thinking about what to do with them. There will be exciting things to come in the shop!
